Pitpocket NaliaThe night hung low over the sky, clinging to everything like a dark, gripping hand. It never relented, never let go, not at all until the final break of sunlight shone over the endless horizon beyond. Until then it was a masked persona, grinning as it found a certain delight in causing others their blindness. One, no matter what, would always find and enemy in the night. It was dark as death, unyielding and cold. To many it proved a relentless rival and adversary, allowing little to continue with their daily doings, having to wait until the sun rose again while they slept in their plush, padded beds, their luxurious rooms and gold-lined bedposts. Yes, to those people, the night was their worst enemy, their biggest problem.
But to Nalia, the night was her friend, her greatest ally. She knew it like a lover, knowing how it worked, how it moved, how it curled around every lamppost and street corner. She knew the night, and the night certainly knew her. It was a friendship that could never
mechanici want to kiss every aching wound you have,
bandage your heart every time it bleeds,
and patch up your mind over and over
because not a single tear deserves to fall
from your brandy-drenched eyes
but this dripping heart of mine can only feel
and the healing honey words it flames get caught
in the back of my throat and on the roof of my mouth
so i only have these passionate guttural cries
to tell you that i care all too much
and in order to fix you up again,
i would need to tear myself to tatters
and trade all of my working parts
for your leftover, fading pieces
but i just haven’t figured out how.
